Conversation Guide

The APhA Vaccine Confident Playbook is a user-friendly, action-oriented resource designed to guide and enhance pharmacist–patient conversations regarding COVID-19 vaccines. Using this conversation guide, you can help reduce vaccine hesitancy, bolster vaccine confidence, and increase vaccine uptake. The APhA Vaccine Confident Playbook will help you—pharmacists and pharmacy team members on the front lines of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign—to have the most productive conversations with each of your patients.

While many of these documents were initially written with COVID-19 vaccines in mind, many of the general principles apply to other vaccines as well. Individual vaccines may vary in their antigenic components or dosage forms, but the principles of human behavior and good communication skills transcend most differences between vaccines.

Each “topic brief” addresses the vaccine hesitancy issues most likely to be encountered by pharmacists. This approach will engage each person on an individual level to address any concerns and counter misunderstandings.
