Vaccinate with Confidence Strategy
Building on APhA’s reach, capabilities, leadership, and history of collaboration with CDC and other public health stakeholders, the Vaccinate with Confidence Strategy will inform, educate, influence, and motivate pharmacists and pharmacy personnel to develop vaccine confidence among pharmacists and other members of the pharmacy care team, as well as individuals and communities served by pharmacy practices. The project will address the tenets of the CDC Vaccinate with Confidence strategy—build trust, empower health care personnel, and engage communities and individuals.
Working within the Profession
This effort will engage pharmacists and pharmacy personnel across the health system, particularly those in community-based practice, to positively impact vaccine confidence. To support the tenets of CDC’s Vaccinate with Confidence strategy, this project will enhance the knowledge and abilities of these essential health care providers and provide tools to support implementation within communities, including special populations through interactions with their local pharmacists. The activities for this project are designed to increase confidence in COVID-19 vaccines and the vaccination program through information dissemination, gap identification and education, practice support and tools, and collaboration with other health care providers and communities.
The equivalent of the U.S. population enters a pharmacy every week. With a community pharmacy located within five miles of nearly all Americans and pharmacy’s other access points to the public, pharmacists and pharmacy personnel are well positioned to make an impact and address identified public health threats. Through this project, APhA will reach professionals at the frontline of preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19 in U.S. communities.
The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) is the only organization advancing the entire pharmacy profession. Our expert staff and strong volunteer leadership allow us to help pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, student pharmacists and pharmacy technicians find success and satisfaction in their work, while advocating for changes that benefit them and their patients.
Pharmacists play a critical role in helping patients overcome illness and live healthier lives through chronic disease management and the fully effective use of their medicines. APhA advocates at the national level to give pharmacists a voice in decisions that affect their future while promoting their undeniable value to health care teams. Our goal is to facilitate pharmacists’ delivery of the highest quality patient-centered care.
The project was funded in part by a collaborative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — CoAg number 1 NU50CK000576-01-00.
